Move Your Body – Darka Shadez Release New Theme Song
With just 10 days left in the year, Darka Shadez has released his first material as a vocalist of 2012.
Late Thursday night the artist released “Move Your Body”, a collaboration with producer Asani Ali. The two recorded the track while the producer was on vacation in Saint Marteen, West Indies.
Shadez first revealed the track, co-written by Asani Ali and himself, on his social media channels, debuting the single art and a clip from the song on Facebook.
Asani posted a photo with Shadez and gave it a simple caption: “#MoveYourBody.” The full track is available for purchase on iTunes.
While Ali hasn’t released any of his own songs since dropping “Asani Ali In The Groove” in October of 2010, his songwriting skills have hardly been hiding. In july it was revealed the he penned his label mate Honorebel’s smash hit “Raving and Clean” and has also worked with Eljai on several projects.
Darka Shadez – Move Your Body Is Darker Than Expected
For Shadez Fans, Friday the 13th definitely won’t contain andy bad luck. The singer’s “Move Your Body” single is pretty epic. The song opens with a moody pop-electric sound, and the beat is slow but steady. After a few seconds of the cool intro, we hear Shadez’s distinct voice sing the lyrics “Girl I love The Way You Move Your Body, Inna Di Club, I Got My Eyes On You.”
The song’s verses have an ultra-confident vibe to them while maintaining a mellow sound. As the song builds into the hook, Shadez belts out the lyrics to the chorus, which feels like the inner monologue of Anastasia Steele. And that’s where the song really kicks up a notch – the electric sounds in the background become more noticeable and aggressive, making the track necessary to blast at full volume.
The Meeting
Shadez revealed how he met up with Asani Ali. “Asani was on vacation in St. Marteen. He had just came off tour and need to relax and unwind. We both had a mutual friend Cheese who lives in St. Marteen. It was Cheese who told me that he was on the island so I begged Cheese to introduce us. At first he didn’t want to do it but after some persuasion, he finally did. I didn’t waste any time. He told me I had 20 seconds so I started to spit. I went in hard. Twenty seconds passed and I noticed he wasn’t stopping me so I just kept going. After I finished he said, ‘meet me at the studio tomorrow at 1 PM and do the exact thing you just did.’ I did and the result is “Move Your Body.”
Sonic Synthesis
“Move Your Body” is an addictive look into a possible future album. The song showcase the duos latest approach to sonic synthesis. The pair cross-pollinate R&B, and D&B, halftime and Hip-Hop. All the while, they infuse their carefully crafted track with sinister experimentation. Veering towards halftime, “Move Your Body” engulfs listeners in wicked oblivion. The song opens with a growing whirlwind of gothic ambiance; a ghostly synth rises and drops without warning, underlined by distant violins and a lurking, unnatural creaking. A punching drum rhythm enters alongside and eerie, choral frequency. Echoing vocals capture the building tension in the introduction of Move Your Body.”
